Chapter 23
Jade
As my abilities started to get stronger, I contemplated how I was going to make my return. My birthday was the following day and I couldn’t think of a better time to put that bitch in her place. Except, there was one problem—a major one that I couldn’t work out how to overcome in such a short time. I wasn’t strong enough to control my own body when I’d first met Angel, and I was pretty sure nothing had changed.
All I wanted to do was transport back to Aiden and save my family and friends from the evil girl who had stolen my life. But no matter what way I looked at it, I wasn’t going to be able to take Angel down. After all, the moment I encountered her, she was in complete control of not only me, but Aiden as well. And Angel was twisted. For all I knew, she could be able to make Aiden try to kill me. That was something I didn’t want to chance; which brought me to my current dilemma. What was I going to do?
I hadn’t actually tried transporting since my last attempt, but I could feel the energy stirring within. I missed the feeling. I missed the power. However, I wasn’t going to make the same mistake twice. I wasn’t going to be so naïve as to think that I was unstoppable.
Sitting on the bed in the women’s shelter, I tried to work out a solution to my problem. What I needed was help. I wasn’t sure if Harry was off limits, or if Angel knew the location of the room. Even if she didn’t, I didn’t know how far Angel had infiltrated my life.
Anna and Dave may have been a possibility, considering Aiden wasn’t talking to them the last time I saw him. I couldn’t imagine it would’ve stayed that way for long.
My mum wouldn’t be an option because I was sure that Angel would’ve wanted to meet her biological mother, and for all I knew, my mother had accepted her as me and life was good between them.
What I needed was more information on everyone—including Angel. No matter how much I didn’t want to see her with my family, friends, and especially Aiden, I knew there was no other way.
By the time the call for dinner had been given, I’d decided to play a little game of my own. Angel had learned a lot by watching us from the sidelines. And what I knew for sure was that Angel couldn’t infiltrate my thoughts, so in reality, I could be within the same room as she, and so long as she didn’t see me, Angel wouldn’t know I was there—or so I hoped.
“Jade.” Lisa held her hand over her mouth. “Oops, sorry. I meant Sam.”
I smiled. That type of slip up was bound to happen, but it was still detrimental to my safety—and probably hers. “Don’t worry about it.”
Lisa bounced the baby in her arms. “We’d better get down to the dining area before all the food goes.
